Ok I’m posting this so late, but it was in my drafts so I figured I’d go ahead and post it. 2014 Summer came to an end, it was bittersweet. Off my kids went again. Oh how I miss those sweet people, yet oh how I love being able to work during the day again, not have the house trashed and the kitchen emptied constantly. I can imagine many, many years from now looking back on our summers with a full heart. They are my most important people, these lovies that fulfill me, crack me up, surprise me, drive me nuts, amaze me, and snuggle me. Even when I’m overwhelmed with being a mom to so many incredible beings, I feel so very lucky and grateful.
First day of school pictures:
The baby boy is in middle school, ack! And is sporting his Minecraft confidently!
Someone dyed her hair the night before school (see red hands)
Our amazing dancer, her last year of middle school, stop time!
TWO in middle school!
First grade, would still rather be home with mom, still hasn’t lost any top teeth!
3rd grade, really coming into her own and blossoming, dancing now too!
How can the baby girls be sooooo big?! Sniff
And of course a throwback picture from 2008 to compare 🙂
A more wordy blog post coming soon. For now…
I have a lot of girls in my house, 4 daughters to be exact. My house is full of dresses, hair products, sweetness, and drama. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, although my son is much easier most of the time! 😉
I’ve been photographing these girls since they were born and I’m so enjoying watching them grow!
After a crazy last few weeks of school and a wonderful week of vaca in California, I’m catching up on my first few summer sessions! It’s more of a challenge to run my business in the summer while also entertaining 4 little ones, but I enjoy having them home and all of the memories we are creating! I also miss my weekday work hours and burn the midnight oil much more! 🙂
Happy Father’s Day to all of the guys out there who are dads, grandads, role models, mentors, or anything special in the life of kids, even adult kids. Dads are so important and we need you guys to balance us women out! 🙂 I’m so thankful that my kids have a dad who adores them and worships them, I don’t ever take that for granted! Hope you guys out there had a great Father’s Day!!
This little guy was a month old for his session, it can be a little more work to get those “sleepy, curly” newborn portraits at a month old, but it’s totally doable. 🙂 What a sweet guy, congratulations mom & dad!!
Over 5 years ago I did Tyler’s newborn session and was so excited to photograph his new baby brother. Chase is the spitting image of Tyler as a newborn, I’ll have to post a side by side of them! Working with a 5 year old sibling is always fun, they are sooooo much easier than the 3 year olds! 🙂
I love posting outtakes. They are fun and silly and REAL. I’ve learned over the years that an outtake isn’t always an outtake (a behind the scenes photo that wont be included in the gallery). Whenever I post one, people comment and say things like, “That’s not an outtake, that’s perfect! I’d buy that for sure!”. Those comments taught me that the moments in between the “posed” portraits are so important and perfect in their own way. I realized that I LOVE those moments just as much, if not more. And I learned not to set my camera down because I might miss a memory that would be my client’s favorite.
Sam behaved SO well during the session and I let him pick the final portrait setup. He picked to have one of just the boys, him and dad on the bed. We did get that adorable shot of them both looking at the camera smiling and I love that one too, but this is by far my favorite. 🙂
I spent a snowy morning (hopefully our last?) with Selena (LOVE her name!) and her lovely family. She was a very sleepy and willing participant and big brother Samuel was so proud and helpful! Check back for a portrait of them together!
